Second day of the year, and oh, I just can’t wait for spring and summer! I long for the day that I can go out of the house wearing those cute modest dresses again. Winter left me with no choice but to wear those thick layers of clothes that make me look shorter and fatter. Ugh!
Speaking of modest clothes, with the proliferation of skimpy clothing (and celebrities wearing them), one may think that modest clothes are becoming out of fashion. Well, I believe that one can still wear modest clothes and still be fashionable. We just need to consider our body shape (and size, wink!) in choosing the clothes that we will be wearing. For example, I’m not really a fan of loud colors and bold prints because I’m on the petite side and these type of designs make me look smaller and fat.
Another tip that I’d like to share on how to make modest clothes fashionable is to wear something that fits the occasion. I understand that some people choose certain styles because they wanted to be unique but you don’t want to end up being criticized like Justin Bieber who wore a white t-shirt, backwards cap and pair of striped overalls with only one strap buttoned when he received the Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper as shown in the picture below:
Justin defended his attire by saying that the picture was taken in a room in the arena where he was performing at that day and it’s crazy to expect him to have a change of clothes or loan a suit during that time. Whatever his reasons are, this is an example of how not choosing the right clothes for the occasion could prove detrimental to your image.
Oh well, let me stop talking about Justin Beieber for now and share with you my last tip before I end this post: pick the right accessories to go with your attire. The right accessories can make you look chic and elegant and can turn your boring attire into a glamorous ensemble. A boo-boo in accessorizing can make you look trying hard and tacky.
