I’ve been watching my Feedjit Live Feeds for some time now and I’ve noticed a trend lately. More and more visitors are arriving directly on my “Page Not Found” page. Yesterday, there were even five of them. Should I be alarmed?
I’ve heard about the ghost stories of blogs being hacked. I remember reading about how to put a code that will block access to your site’s directory through a page when I was researching on that topic. I’m not sure if I followed the instructions on that article but if these visitors are hackers wanting to access my site through that page (I forgot exactly the directory referred to in the article that I’ve read), it’s a cause for concern right?
Darn, I need to back-up this blog. Just in case…
UPDATE (August 21, 2011) : My blog was indeed hacked and I didn’t know whether the culprit was my blog hosting provider which has been a constant target of hackers or a premium wordpress theme that I got for free from another website. I later solved this problem by changing my web host to Hostgator and getting a license for my Thesis theme for WordPress.

Yah, it happened when I arrived too. I can’t remember if I came here by my droplist (which is a direct link), or via Adgitize, but I was sent to:

I deleted the gibberish at the end and returned here. I’d check your code via FTP if I were you.

I have a lot of pages not found in my blog because those pages are already gone. Something happened to my server and I did not back up all my post and when the server got error half of my posts were gone. That was a learning experience on my part and I hope that will not ever happen again.

that’s sad. i guess i really have to back up but i’m new to wordpress and i have to check out those features yet.

i landed on that page one time. if hacking could be the reason, you really should be prepared and back up your blog asap. better be safe than sorry. i think i should do it too since this hacking thing has become rampant
Gee says
that’s right elai. but will someone tell me how to do it in wordpress? i’m a WP newbie kasi. okei… research-research….
