I’m loving the fact that I am in Las Vegas because people from other places come in anticipation of the big events (parties, fireworks and good time) here. During the holidays, there’s a bigger probability that these tourists include some of our friends and relatives who are just waiting for the right time to go to Las Vegas – just like what happened recently.
Last December, I finally met my distant relative, Tracey, who flew in from Texas to enjoy the Christmas and New Year festivities here. During our simple get-together, I had learned that she and her fiance are both working as Texas process servers. She’s so passionate with her job and I had learned how valuable and needed process servers are today because of her.
For a start, process servers are the ones who give legal notices to the person to be served. Contrary to what I initially thought, Tracey made me realize that being a process is not as easy as it looks. They have to learn and master the rules, forms, guidelines and procedures that must be followed to be effectual in the servicing of process or court documents. The judicial process is such a maze and a small error such as the improper servicing of process could jeopardize a legal case since lawyers can use it as a defense in court.
Because of the importance of process servers in the legal process, the Supreme Court of Texas ordered that the process servers in their state needed to be certified. A Texas state board consisting of a chairman, vice-chairman and seven board members comprise the Process Server Review Board which is the one tasked to regulate the certification. And Tracey is a certified process server in Texas.
Anyway, sorry if I sort of babble about Tracey and her job. I know I should be sharing more about my recent holiday activities but as usual, I’m too lazy to download our pictures during the holidays from my digital camera. Promise I will blog about them in the future. There’s a lot of stories to tell and pictures to share.
