Earlier today, I was browsing the net for some royalty-free pictures that I can incorporate on my blog posts when I saw the image from Dedham Locksmith. That photo reminded me of the time when we were locked out of the house and badly needed a locksmith.
It was in July of last year when that memorable day happened. We were planning to attend the Sunday mass and since we woke up late, we chose to attend the 11:30 am church service. My hubby and our daughter, Georyl, (I was still pregnant with Geshery then) went out of the house first. As usual, I’m the last one to leave the house and since I thought they were already in the car (we were rushing because it was almost 11:20 am then), I turned the locks for both our main door and security gate so that they’ll be locked without needing to use the keys.
Wrong move!
Hubby tried to stop me from closing the door by shouting from outside our gate (our car was parked along the street then) but he was a few seconds late since I already pulled the door closed. It turned out that he didn’t bring his keys (both for the car and the house) – and in that split second, we both realized that we were locked out of the house!
Outdoors is probably the last place you want to be during noontime in July here at Las Vegas. The shade was not enough to block out the scorching heat of the sun and my! I’m not exaggerating but the stinging rays of the sun and the temperature at that time reminded me of how one feels when he or she stands in front of an oven.
We were getting hungry, sweating profusely and desperate. We tried contacting a locksmith but hubby’s cellphone battery went dead while he was talking on the phone.
Hubby rolled up his sleeves because there was no other way to get us out of this predicament but to try to be a locksmith himself. It took some time but I’m glad that he stood up to the challenge and found that inner locksmith in him.
Our “locksmith” save us! And getting inside the house after that ordeal was heaven.

Hi Sheryl. Happy New Year. When my mother died, we also needed a locksmith because I accidentally made a wrong twist of the key and left half of it on the lock so that the main door of my parent’s house can’t be opened. Just not our day. We almost destroyed the lock but glad that we didn’t because there’s a carpenter who happened to know better how to unlock it.
Glad to have dropped by again after a long while.

glad to hear from you again. thanks for the visit Chin.
anyway, it’s good that you have a neighbor who was able to help you. Filipinos are kinda resourceful and “madiskarte” that even though we mess up with our locks before too, we didn’t find the need to hire a locksmith.

Wow! What a memorable experience about locksmith. Glad you have a husband that has an inner locksmith in him. He saved your day. And you’ve got lesson learned for that.
