Georyl’s Featured in the Caring 4 Kids Facebook Page

The church that we attend to recently collaborated with the Caring 4 Kids Foundation, an organization whose goal is to feed, educate and mentor homeless and in-need children around the globe.

The church’s goal was to donate foods to the homeless children through the Caring 4 Kids Foundation. These homeless children get to have free breakfast and lunch at schools during weekdays but from Friday evening to Sunday, they’re not sure where to get their food. Our goal as a church was to donate, sort, bag and distribute these bags of food to homeless kids in the Clark County schools in Nevada.

Members of the church donated food items and water for the activity. For two consecutive Tuesdays, volunteers sorted and inventoried all those donated items. For two succeeding Thursdays, they bagged these items for distribution to children on weekends.

We were glad that we volunteered for the first Tuesday of this volunteer work. We were inspired and moved by such an awesome community of volunteers and the inspiring words from the Caring 4 Kids organizers that we went back for the rest of the volunteer work even though we haven’t signed up for them.

Last week, Dale Darcas, the executive director of the Caring 4 Kids Foundation told us that he posted Georyl’s picture in the Caring 4 Kids Facebook page. We’re so delighted by this news so I’d like to share it with you:

This picture was taken while Georyl was opening the boxes of fruit packs while her dad segregates them. Aside from this, she also carried food items to the stock pile during the sorting, picked up plastic wrappers and boxes and threw them into garbage bins and delivered food items to the baggers (with her dad).

Hubby mentioned that the first time she carried some juice and Oreo during the sorting and inventory stage, she didn’t want to place it in the stockpile – and wanted them for herself. It took a few awkward moments before she finally let go of those items and learned the drill.

Here are the items that were bagged during the volunteer work. Nope, they are not garbage – they’re food items ready to be distributed to thousands of homeless children here in Las Vegas.
