When we left the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Rapid City, North Dakota to view the Mount Rushmore monument in the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota, it was snowing. Our spirits were as damp and cold as the weather so imagine our surprise when midway through the 40 minute drive, the sky became clear and the sun kept on shining. Good omen, right?
Still a few miles to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, we already saw the monument from afar. During that time, we thought that it was already the best view we could get so we already had our pictures taken.

There are a lot of activities for visitors especially during the summer but since it was very cold when we got there, we only went to Grand View Terrace to see the monuments up close.
