First, it was Inlinkz. Now, Linky Tools will also be charging an annual fee for use of its services.
If you’re fond of joining blog hops or other activities that require inputting your links (like linky freebies or onlines contests), you probably are familiar already with Linky Tools.
Ever since its inception, Linky Tools was personally funded by Brent and was being offered to its clients for free. However, the expense involved, not to mention the time and efforts given for the improvement of the site, makes providing it as a free service unsustainable already. Ads do not produce money and donations don’t happen. Thus, he’ll now be requiring an annual fee of $24 for the use of Linky Tools.
Beside all the great Linky Tools, Linky Tools will also be featuring these in the future:
* Optional email notifications when someone enters a link on your list
* Click stats on your links, and summary stats on your account
* Blog party (meme, carnival, etc) directory
* Linky Tools Blog Rankings System
* Linky Tools Reference Desk
* Add a Bible Verse or inspiration quote to your Linky list
* A multi-list creator function (example: create 20 lists with one click, scheduled in intervals)
On February 7th, all free, unpaid accounts were deactivated. Existing users will not be able to create new lists but have two more weeks to log in and export their lists so they can save them. After February 7th, the lists and entries on unpaid accounts will not show on blogs and on March 1st, will be deleted permanently to free up space in my database, speed up the site, and reduce costs.
If you are choose not to pay for a subscription, better export your list before February 21 or lose them forever.
