Hello friends! How was your long weekend (if you got an off from work because of the federal holiday)? Hope everybody had a great time especially those who got great deals during Presidents Day sales events in various stores.
Anyway, do you still remember that blog post where I shared that earlier this year my husband and I had tendered an offer for a short sale property?
Guess what? The results are in. Today we were informed that our offer was rejected and the lender gave us a counter-offer instead.
A sad news? No! Actually, we think that it is a blessing in disguise!
We were actually contemplating on backing-out of that deal after we saw a listing for Pasadena homes for sale. We found a charming single family home that could be a great investment property in California – and a good thing about this two-bedroom, two-bath property is that it is not a short-sale.
So instead of continuing with the negotiations for the duplex property, my husband and I found a great alibi to withdraw our offer. As I have mentioned, the rejection was a blessing in disguise because it is also a good reason to have our earnest money back – intact.
Despite our interest in acquiring that property in Pasadena, we are taking our time and still have not tendered our offer yet. We requested my uncle who lives in Glendale, California to drive by the location first and we are waiting for his feedback before making any move. He plans to go there this weekend and take some videos as well so that we can have an idea of how the house and the neighborhood looks like before we make our decision.
This is the first time if ever that we’ll offer to purchase a property without seeing it. We know that this is a risky move but I believe that we can work things out.
Anyway, are you looking for a property right now too? We would love to hear about your experience in the comments section below. Care to share?

I had work last Monday so it wasn’t a long weekend for me. By the way, shouldn’t you publish that you were just waiting for an alibi to withdraw your offer? Just wondering. Good luck on your house hunting though.

hmmm.. now that you mentioned it, that might have been indeed a bad move… or probably not. i don’t think it makes a difference.
