I first encountered this hyperpromote pop-up in a blogger friend’s blog. I don’t know what I clicked at that time but this annoying ad just popped-up. At first, I thought it came from another blog because I had a lot of open tabs at that time. So I just disregarded it.
We all know how readers shy away from sites with pop up ads. The first thing that comes to one’s mind is that it’s a virus.
But I had noticed that everytime I leave a comment on her blog, a hyperpromote ad just appears immediately. I left her a message informing her that her site might contain a virus of some sort for such ads to appear – and she said she’ll investigate on that.
When I did my bloghopping in the next few days, I’ve noticed that more sites are showing this annoying pop up everytime I click the “leave a comment” button. “Is the virus becoming viral?” I thought.
So today, I search about hyperpromote on Google and found this article by Jan.
THE HYPERPROMOTE CULPRIT
According to her (or him?), those Hyperpromote pop-ups are from the site Bidvertiser. Pop up ads are enabled by default for all new publisher sign ups and in order to disable them, you need to do it from your Bidvertiser dashboard/account settings.
Bidvertiser claims that payouts are higher for pop up ads but… there’s a BUT here, we all know how readers shy away from sites with pop up. The first thing that comes to one’s mind is that it’s a virus.
So Bidvertiser publishers, if you are more concerned with losing your readers (because they’ll think your site has a virus) than earning a few more bucks, you just know what to do.

It’s noteworthy of you to have posted this topic. I, myself, have a hard time evading the pop-ups all on other blogs cuz they are hidden and they are nuisance. Instead of getting straight ahead to the post, I get pop-ups blocking my view that load in ages.
Gee says
being a nuisance is also one of the reasons why pop up ads turn me off. but i’m more concerned of the possibility that it might be a virus.

You are genius! I swear I disabled those pop ups from bidvertiser a long time ago. I’ll check my settings again and hopefully you won’t get those annoying hyperpromote popups from my site. Thank you so much sis!

jan is the genius ver. i’ve no way of knowing the source because i don’t have the code on my site. she experimented with all her widgets and found the culprit behind hyperpromote.

Great job with this post. I hope people read it good. I will shy away from any sites with the pop ups.
Thank You

Yup, I hate that too.

I had that problem before but it came from a widget I use to track down the number of guests. When a friend told me that there ‘s a porn pop up, I think about the stuff I added on my side bar and that was the new one. I immediately deleted it and it solved the problem..
Gee says
that’s good sis. at least you were able to immediately find the culprit behind the.. what? porn pop up ad pa… grabe ha… sayang hindi ko nakita. hahaha. joke!

thanks for the info! never encountered this yet… but this gives me a heads up! i don’t like sites that have pop up too! It’s so annoying to click the x button hahaha!
Gee says
it gives me that feeling like when i’m talking to someone and then suddenly, somebody jumps into the picture then talks about something else. i think that a pop up ad is a rude way of advertising your products. such a turn off!
Gee says
this hyperpromote ad usually appears when you click the leave a comment buton. 🙂

So that is where these things are coming from. I have a couple of friends and they pp up when I comment. I wasn’t worried about a virus with them though. But, the ads are a pain.
I am on a satellite and run much slower than cable or braodband. These pop ups slow me down even more. I will have to find bidviser and try to disable these things.
Thanks a bunch!

Just a few days ago, another blogger friend informed me that I have hyperpromote on my money niche site. Good thing she told me what causes it and it’s indeed the Bidvertiser ads I have on the site. Took it out already and so far haven’t noticed any pop ups. 🙂

Had the same issue before. I contacted Bidvertiser to clarify if it’s them, they just told me to edit my preference instead of providing the real answers. Haha. But it’s crystal clear. It’s them. 🙂
