Who said learning finance had to be difficult or boring?
I was checking out a mortgage calculator website recently to research on the possible monthly payments or amortization of a mortgage loan that I was planning to avail when I stumbled upon their online game page. The section was entitled “Kids Games” but when I browsed through the list of games, I realized that it’s not only the kids that will enjoy playing with them.
The first thing that struck me was the fact that there were over 150 games on the site – and they were all FREE to play! I felt like a giddy kid on Christmas morning while trying out the various kinds of money games, real estate games, food games, business games, environmental games, math games, food-themed games, hidden object games and platformer games there.
Money Games
It’s all about the money, money, money! There’s a money counting game under this category that will benefit young kids or even those young at heart but unfamiliar with US money. There are also the bubble shooter type of games, idle clickers, mazes, puzzles, merging games, Frogger-inspired games, obstacle courses and more. The cashier game will help with learning (or reviewing) arithmetic.
Real Estate Games
I consider myself a real estate aficionado so I delved more into these games. If you’re helping your kids (or you) understand the risks involved in owning a property, Hazardville will teach them about some reasons why an insurance and other property improvements are necessary to mitigate risks involved with various natural and man-made hazards. Like the other categories, the real estate games also included puzzles, idle clickers and others. I was also excited with the Real Estate Tycoon game since it reminds me of a similar game about buying and selling houses that I used to play.
Construction Games
The word “construction” in construction games was the only reminder for me that I was not in a game site. I was in a mortgage calculator website because I was looking into construction mortgage loans. Wow! It was easy to get lost in all those games. There are clicking games, bubble shooting games, solitaire, and games of similar type with the ones I previously mentioned but with different game themes, of course.
Other Various Games
Arcade, board games, stacking games, painting games, landscaping games, destruction games – you will not lack choices. There are games like Screw Spin, Nuts and Bolts, and Twist Tactics that are very similar to the ones I play on my phone. Playing the Games
Sure, there are many games similar to the ones on the website that you can download through Android apps or Apple Store apps, but if you’re like me who’s not a fan of pop-up ads every time you pass a stage or level in a free apps game, then these free games at Mortgage Calculator are worth a try. If you have kids who get annoyed with ads when they’re playing on their gadget or you just don’t want your young kids to click on ads that will pop-up at ill-timed moments, this might be the answer to your problem. Anyway, I played with some of the games on my desktop computer but I noticed that some games are easier to play with a tablet, a phone, or a gadget that’s touch screen.
Final Thoughts
Stumbling upon the Kids Games section of the Mortgage Calculator website is a touch of serendipity for me. But I was glad that I discovered it because I got the chance to play games similar to the ones that I play on my tablet for free – without the hassle of pop-up ads constantly showing up just when I’m in the zone when playing.
