Don’t you just get irritated when you get tagged in pictures in Facebook for photos that don’t belong to you? I do. It’s annoying to see a picture of a product in your profile especially if you don’t use or plan to use it.
Because of my post yesterday about fats and everything, one of my Facebook friends tagged me on a picture of plus size clothes on Facebook. A few months ago, some of my Facebook friend also tagged me in pictures of glutathione pills, breast enhancers and their other merchandise. Well, don’t ask me where they are now because after removing the tag from my photo, I immediately clicked the “unfriend” button (and I did it again last night).
Just because Facebook allows us to tag photos, it doesn’t mean that we should use that function indiscriminately. Social networking sites might have made interaction with everyone easy and quick but it doesn’t mean that we now have to forget how to respect each other. If you need to advertise something, you can share it on your wall or PM somebody whom you think might be interested.
Well, I am partly to blame for adding people whom I don’t personally know into my Facebook network. I guess choosing your friends applies not only in the real world but in virtual communities as well. Just because they sent a request to be added to your friends does not mean that you have to accept it, right?
I’m just thankful that getting rid of a “friend who is not really a friend” is as easy as hitting a button.

So far, I’ve never been tagged in photos I don’t belong to in Facebook. I try to limit adding as friends people I don’t know. Does liking a fan page mean adding them as friends as well? I hope not. But I am glad to know some in the blogosphere through liking fan pages who I consider as “friends.”
