If you’re reading this, chances are you have a Facebook account too. Facebook is now ranked by Alexa as the second most popular site in the whole net world, next to Google. It is the number one site in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Norway and Singapore and number two in 26 other countries including the United States.
I created an account on Facebook in 2003 but didn’t use it because I was more active at that time in Friendster. It took me about half a decade before I finally became an active user of Facebook and guess what, I love it!
Farmville, Petville, Fishville, Mafia Wars, Cafe World and what-have-you’s – I became addicted to them at one time or another. Actually, I already reached high levels on those games when I unceremoniously deleted them from my Facebook account. Yes, all those times I invested in harvesting crops, waiting on tables, feeding fishes, cleaning pets and killing mafias went to waste. You want to know why?
Imagine me sitting in front of the computer, busy waiting for a dish to cook in Cafe World while waiting on some mafia jobs to be posted on my wall when, to my chagrin, our main door suddenly opened and here comes hubby – hungry and tired from his busy morning schedule at work. Woah, it was already time for lunch! I had spent the whole morning cleaning my pet’s house and had already cooked a lot of dishes in Cafe World but haven’t done a real world household chore.
To make the long story short, I wasn’t able to prepare for lunch because I was so busy with Facebook games. Other men would have run amok at that time but my hubby just silently sat there as I served him sardines from can as lunch. He never raised his voice. He never reprimanded me. The silent treatment worked. I felt so ashamed for being so irresponsible that I made a promise to myself not to let it happen again.
But how? I was already addicted to those games and I knew that I won’t be able to discipline myself to conform to a schedule when playing. There’s only one feasible way for me to keep my promise – delete the applications from my Facebook account.
And deleted, they had been. Now, there’s only Scramble and Bejeweled Blitz on my Facebook wall. They are good games but not as addicting as the other games that I had deleted.
I had loved Facebook games – but then, I’d figured the real world is much better than the virtual one.

I’m actually not into FB games but I know who does..my eldest son! He’s so into FV and the likes and consumes an hour just planting, harvesting and taking care of his virtual animals.. I don’t have anything against those who loves to play, but maybe it isn’t for me.. I am done with online games and I believe I was once an addict when it comes to games..
Though I know that for most bloggers, playing on FB is just their way to either pass time or relieving some stress.. 🙂

I’ve been an addict with computer games too… not just on FB games. I could spend the whole day playing. Before, it doesn’t matter but now, I have a family that I have to take care of. I’d rather spend my time with them. 🙂
Eihdra says
wish I could edit my comment and take out the “to” prior to planting…hehehehehe
Gee says
Don’t worry, I already edited it. 🙂

i was warned that the FB games are addicting, so I didn’t try it. i also don’t like the “poke” application in it, so childish haha. i only use it to connect with friends and family. if you’d like to add me there sis, just search for my real name. i have a different email acct for it.
zoan says

I just stop playing na nong preggy na ako..for some reason hindi na talaga ako nag games sa FB..maybe one of the reason is I am very occupied thinking of my situation..plus broken hearted ako during my pregnancy..and i just spend my time crying..hahahaha…
