When I first saw the infographic above, I was not a bit surprised of the number of internet users mentioned there. It seems like everybody is online nowadays, especially in social networking sites. Even in the recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines, people were updating their FB status and sending our tweets even during the earthquake! Just imagine if newspapers like USA Today do not have online editions, we will hear about those news the next day (and it’s going to be old already by that time).
With an estimated 80 million internet users getting their news from internet sites every day, it is of no wonder why companies and businesses are focusing more efforts in their online strategies.
The internet, having a worldwide reach, is more cost-effective than television commercial and print ads. When your company’s press release becomes viral, it is like hitting a proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow – having millions of leads and possible clients for your product or service.
It will probably take a long while before the work of those press release distribution companies in the United States become easier. I can foresee busier days ahead of them. Do you agree?
