I like reading feel good romance books – that is why I was excited when I got the chance to receive Melissa Tagg’s latest book entitled, “From the Start.” This is the third book from Tagg, a former newspaper reporter turned nonprofit grant writer who also blogs at www.melissatagg.com.
Synopsis
From the Start is the story of two people who are both facing crossroads in their lives. Kate Walker is a romance writer who desperately wants to do something meaningful while Colton Greene is a former NFL quarterback who retired from playing football due to an injury. They get the chance to meet in quiet town of Maple Valley, where they start to rethink about their future and learned to accept the hurts from the past.
My Review
I enjoyed reading the book. While there some very minor flaws a good copy editor cannot fix (like missing word in some sentences), the plot and storytelling were great and the characters are realistic and likeable. I like the fact that this story has depth, with a lesson to teach about life and faith. The only thing that I can’t understand is how Colton can have injuries that will cause him to permanently retire from professional football and still afford to do all those hard work that he did at Maple Valley.
This is a Christian romance story but with Melissa Tagg’s great storytelling, the Christian part does not sound forced.
