Have you ever wondered if love can be enough to restore hope and take away fears and regrets? Or whether it is possible for someone with deep faith to have a happy ending with a believer? I have recently read a book about this and I’d like to share my book review with you.
A Love Like Ours
Bethany House Publishers recently released the third part of the Porter Family Novel series that is written by Becky Wade. This book 3 is entitled, “A Love Like Ours” and it tells the story of Lyndie James and her childhood best friend, Jake Porter.
The heroine is an optimist with a sparkling personality – a stark contrast to the brooding hero who is an unbeliever with hang-ups. The story revolves not only on romantic love but also includes some issues like PTSD, dealing with someone who has a disability, and of course, finding faith through God.
There are some scenes where I think the story dragged but some parts hit home (and I admit being teary eyed while reading some parts). Since most romance books have happy endings, the story is predictable but Ms. Wade’s writing and the plot kept me on my toes. Although this is the third part of the series, you can read it even if you haven’t read the other parts of the series (although I already read the first part, Undeniably Yours.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the book. While I don’t find it too preachy, readers should be aware that this is a faith-based novel about finding hope.
