I was browsing through the different images saved in my laptop when I saw this picture (among others) which was taken more than four years ago. This is a picture of the Royal Palace in Rabat, Morocco.
Looking at all those picture brought back memories of the time when we were still living in Morocco – the places we’d been and the people we’d met. I regret that I didn’t come to know a lot of people there because I barely speak their language (French and Arabic) so I was limited to only the Filipino communities and very few people who knew English (like my husband’s officemates and their families).
I wished I had learned how to speak French when I was still in Morocco. When I gave birth to Georyl there, I had a hard time because I relied mostly on sign language in dealing with most of the medical personnel because only my doctor could speak English (but she talked in French too when I was at the delivery room and I was like “is she asking me to push or what?”). It’s not like I could hire someone from a translation company just to help me communicate during labor and delivery (although that would have been helpful), right?
I am hoping to visit the country of Morocco again someday. It holds a special place in my heart because it’s where my husband and I spent the first few years of our lives together – and where Georyl was born.

I’m a travel nut and I frequently go back through all my pictures and journal entries to remind me of all the wonderful things I experienced in a country. And Morocco is on my Bucket List!

There are many nice and picturesque places in Morocco. Just be sure to learn French and Arabic; a few people know how to speak English there.
