When I’m MIA in the blogosphere for few days, it’s usually because we’re hitting the road. Hubby loves traveling to different places – unlike me who could probably stay at home forever as long as there’s internet (LOL!).
Traveling and exploring the world were not my dreams. I grew up in a middle income family and traveling was not one of our priorities. Traveling entails expenses – it’s a luxury our family can’t afford then. My parents would rather spend on clothes, home repairs and improvement, food and other basic needs. And yes, there’s tuition and education costs to worry about when you’re sending four kids to college (and law school).
Thanks God because he gave me a hubby who taught me why traveling is not just a luxury but a beneficial activity.
Traveling is an enriching experience. As long as you try to be observant and open-minded, there’s always something new to learn when you travel. It need not be in other countries – it can be the next block in your neighborhood or a place in a baranggay, district, town, province, county or state that you’ve never been at.
Thru travels, you learn to interact with a lot of people and to cope with various situations. This knowledge boosts your self-confidence and maturity.
You also see people from various walks of life when you go out of your shell. You learn to empatize with those who’re less fortunate and become thankful of the things and blessings that you often disregard. You gain inspiration from those who are doing great and knowing how successful other people has become can also be a humbling experience.
Are you also fond of traveling?

Same with me sis..dagdag expenses lang sya..but like as what you’ve said it doesn’t have to be outside the country.
Now that I have a baby isa na yan sa mga goal ko for Iris to expose her outside world to boost her confident especially she’ll grow up na ako lang ang kapatid ko ang nakikita nya. I really have to be sensitive and so as early as possible I need na ma-boost talaga ang confident nya. Travelling sa mga kalapit na province is not bad to explore new things at maipakita sa kanya na she’s bless.

right sheng. it doesn’t need to be somewhere far as long as it provides enough opportunities to meet other people and learn about and from them.

Like you were in the past, I don’t see traveling as a necessity. I always see the cost as added burden and it has never been a priority. That was when I still had to rely on my parents for financial support. I can’t just ask any amount of money to spend on anything. They have their own priorities and traveling is definitely not in the list.
When I had my own job at 20, I got lucky that my job entailed lots of traveling. I won’t have to bother about the cost anymore, LOL! When I shifted to government employment, the luxury of traveling without having to mind the cost ceased. Too bad! That’s when I had to spend formy own travel. I decided to broaden my horizon and chose to travel abroad, haha! It was one wonderful experience that no amount of money can buy. I remember my Boss telling me to enjoy it while it lasts. He emphasized that while we’re still young and able to travel, we should take the chance. And so I am once more booked for my international travel in June, LOL!

when i was still working in the government, i was usually sent to conferences and seminars outside of our province – and i enjoyed that because aside from the per diem, you get to travel for free – all expenses paid. wink!

Hey Sheryl!
As someone that has traveled either through my line of work or for my own personal leisure, and what you say here is true.
In the USA alone, the lifestyles as well as the ways of thinking are different depending on which part of the country you live in. I like interacting with the sports fans at venues I’ve been to just like other landmarks.
Have a good one my friend!

there are a lot to learn whenever you travel david. i’m glad that you get a chance to travel in your line of work. when i was still working, i’m always confined in the four corners of the office.

i so agree. getting to travel indeed is a wonderful privilege. the experience itself is priceless regardless of the destination. it’s a way of immersing yourself into different situations and walks of life. and of course, not to forget, the importance of quality time you spend with the person(s) you’re traveling with.
like you, though i always wanted to, i didn’t really have the chance to travel much when i was back home. as well, i’m blessed enough to find a husband who’s very enthusiastic when it comes to exploring and traveling. we have set a goal of going into a trip at least once per year. we recently went to Jamaica and really had a great time in the Carribean (first time for both of us to fly out of the Atlantic America). Lord willing, our next big trip is Europe next year. But before that, we’d like to visit Philippines in November; Kansas City, Missouri in July; Toronto, Ontario next week; and tomorrow… Florida (again!) ^^
enjoy your adventures with JPR and Baby G 🙂
