One of the mistakes stay at home wives and mothers make is taking themselves for granted. Unless you want to sing “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” and “You Don’t Love Me Anymore” one of these days, better get back in shape and stay beautiful.
Exercise. Being too busy with household management and chores is not enough reason to forget exercise. You can still have your fair share of exercise workout without the need to go to the gym. Try to incorporate some simple exercises into your household chores. It may look silly but I usually march in place while washing the dishes and even if there’s a floor polisher, I get on my hands and knees to scrub the floor – with a dance music on the background so that I can sway and do some dance moves too.
Rest/Sleep. Staying up late just to watch telenovelas and late night shows will not only increase your electric bill. It also guarantees increase in your wrinkles. Try to get enough rest and sleep especially after a busy and tiring day.
Proper Diet. Now that you’re the queen of the kitchen, you have no one to blame if what’s served on the table are unhealthy fatty foods. Always remember to prepare nutritious and healthy foods for you and your family.
Personal Hygiene. I once had a dorm mate who used to spend more than an hour preparing herself for a date. When I gave her an unexpected visit sometime ago, it looks like her hair hasn’t seen a comb in years. And I doubt if she even managed to brush her teeth since morning (and it was already in late afternoon when I visited her). Remember that just because you’re at home doesn’t mean that you don’t have to be presentable and hygienic. Take a bath, brush your teeth, comb your hair – these are basic personal hygiene activities but, believe it or not, some SAHWM take that for granted.
Read and Stay Updated. It’s easy to be lost in your inner (home) world when you just stay at home. Resist that tendency. Try to keep abreast of the current news and what’s happening outside your queendom. Read books, newspapers, magazines or internet articles to keep your mind working. Smart is beautiful and the feeling that you can talk to anyone about anything is definitely a confidence booster.
Pamper Yourself. Have a massage, head to the parlor or visit the spa once in a while (or regularly if you want). Just because you had your toes pedicured in a salon doesn’t mean that you’re lazy – what you’re after is the feeling of being pampered while you relax. SAHWMs need a day-off too, you know.
Stay In Love. Love is a great beauty booster. Stay in love with your husband, with your children, with yourself – with the world. It brings you a radiant glow and takes the burden off everything you do. If you lose love, you lose it.
You are beautiful. Stay that way.
