Once you have added a new member of the family to the mix, it is an exciting experience. However, one thing moms never think about is the new load of laundry. Granted, that’s not a deal breaker in having another baby. Still, no one talks about how to manage the forever-increasing loads of laundry.
If this has been your experience, do not feel bad. There are tons of parents who struggle with managing all of the laundry. Consider the following tips to stay on top of it all.
1. Create compartments for clothing.
Purchase hampers that come with dividers. When you do this, your children will be able to put the white clothing in one compartment and the bright colors in another compartment easily. This will primarily help you when you’re getting ready to put loads in the wash.
2. Wash and dry loads for each person.
Keep everyone’s garments in separate bins. It can get pretty crazy if you try to wash all of the clothes together. This is because it makes things a lot harder to organize once it is time to put clothes away. You will cut down on time if you can pull clothes out of the dryer, and know exactly which person the whole load belongs to.
3. Restock on items.
If you find yourself wanting certain items to put outfits together, it’s a good idea to take inventory of what you have and need. Create a list as you comb through everyone’s closets. This concept applies to shoes as well. If your little boy needs new church shoes, find an online retailer that sells boys leather shoes. Get them shipped to your front door so you don’t have to worry about a hassle.
4. Set out a week’s worth of clothing.
It can be pretty overwhelming to work on deciding the outfit of the day for each of your children. Then, you still have to think about yourself. Eliminate decision fatigue by setting up the clothes for the week. Look at the weather to know how to dress. Then, set the clothing aside for each person over the weekend to prepare for the week.
