Hello everyone! How’s everything?
Lately, I’ve not been feeling well. I feel like a yomega yoyo (actually the term should have been “like in a roller coaster ride” but since it’s not as dramatic as the latter, I chose to compare what I felt with a yoyo, wink!). Sometimes I am energetic and on the go and then the next minute, I feel so lethargic, sleepy and sometimes, dizzy.
Can you guess what’s happening? First one with the right guess will be featured on the sidebar for a week.
How was your weekend?
We’ve been busy installing wood laminate on our floors during the weekend. We finished the master’s bedroom today and started on the other room too. Since we still have to buy our portable light a new cree xm-l lamp, we usually call it a day by 4:00 in the afternoon because it already gets dark and it’s hard to see whether the laminates are even.
I’ll share with you some pictures of our DIY installation of wood laminate soon. I forgot to take pictures but we’re gonna do the whole house so I’ll have lots of opportunities in the next few days.
Gonna be a busy week!
One of the projects that we did with our newly bought property is renovating the kitchen. We removed the cabinets and will be replacing them soon. The kitchen wall was covered with dark green tiles so we removed them as well (I don’t like its color and it looked so outdated). Problem is, the tiles stuck to the dry wall so we need to replace the dry wall too.
Now, here’s the interesting part: quotes we received just to have the dry wall replaced were between $800 to $1200. See how big the area is:
Should we pay $800 to $1200 just to have this wall fixed?
Hubby and I decided to do it ourselves. We watched tutorials on how to install a drywall on the internet. The drywall and other materials such as joint compound, screws (not lag screw but those needed in the screw gun), orange peel texture and paint cost us less than $100.
Here’s our work in progress:
See those holes for the tube and electric outlet? I did them myself.
Now, here’s our almost through project:
Here's the installed dry wall and hubby just applies some joint compound.
Hubby had finished applying the orange peel texture earlier today but I wasn’t able to take pictures because I can’t stand the strong smell of that chemical.
Installing this dry wall has been quite a learning experience for us. I’m not saying it was easy but what we learned about the task and about our capabilities were worth it.
I’ll share the pictures of our finished project next time.
Have you heard the news? I’ve read from Bloomberg that the Federal Reserve plans to keep U.S. interest rates near a record-low (they even pledged to extend near-zero interest rates through mid-2013).
That’s a great news for investors. People can borrow money at low interest rates and invest in something that will yield higher income in assets such as rental properties, gold bullion and others. Of course, as with any business decisions, it’s important that any investment should be informed decisions (based on some studies and data).
Do you also plan to invest in something right now? If yes, in what? Care to share them in the comments section?
