This is just a short note to greet all the mothers worldwide, happy mothers day!

Last week, I mentioned about vision changes during pregnancy. Now, another change is beginning to happen which is also just normal for pregnant women: my feet are getting larger.

According to studies, pregnant women’s shoe size usually changes (for the bigger) because of three reasons: edema, weight gain, and relaxin. You might already be familiar with the first two causes. Edema is the swelling caused by fluid retention while weight gain is putting on additional weight (sometimes excessive) which is usually caused in pregnancy by eating too much without exercising to shed some calories off.

Relaxin, on the other hand, is a pregnancy hormone that loosens the joints around the pelvis so that the baby can make his way down the birth canal. However, it does not only target the pelvis area exclusively; it loosens the ligaments throughout the body including the feet. Relaxin cause the foot bones to spread which could sometimes be permanent although oftentimes, it is not.

It’s a good thing I kept all those shoes that I bought when my shoe size became bigger during my first pregnancy. Now, I just need some leather dyes to make them look like new. Oh well, maybe a shoe shine will do, wink!

The Voice is a vocal competition shown at NBC. The show’s innovative format features three stages of competition: the blind audition, a battle phase, and finally, the live performance shows.

Today, the final four gave their all in the grand finals of the show. Jermaine Paul represented Team Blake (coached by Blake Shelton) with the song I Believe I Can Fly. Chris Mann sang You Raise Me Up from Christina Aguillera’s Team Xtina. Ceelo Green’s team (Team Ceelo) has Juliet Simms singing Free Bird while Adam Levine’s team, Team Adam, showcased Tony Lucca’s rendition of 99 Problems.

I thought I needed a new pair of eyeglasses because lately, I’m having some blurred vision. There are times that I feel that it’s because the eyeglasses that I am currently using does not fit my eye grade anymore.

I dropped by the clinic to get a new prescription but I was advised to wait until I have the baby (I’m pregnant, by the way – in case you’re just new in this blog). Having some difficulty with my vision and having dry, irritated eyes are just common symptoms of pregnancy. I was told that it is normal for many women to experience changes in vision during pregnancy. These are temporary and my vision should be back to normal after the delivery.

I was asked if I have blurring, dimming vision, spots, and floaters that don’t go away, or double vision that persists for more than two hours – and I don’t have them. The doctor said that if I have those symptoms or problems with my vision during pregnancy, I should call my practitioner because these serious vision problems could be a sign of gestational diabetes or high blood pressure.

Oh well, I probably just am so excited to have a new pair of glasses knowing that there are lots of cheap (in price but not in quality) eyeglasses at Zenni Optical. Their products are stylish and fashionable at really affordable prices.

My husband and I were watching Hawaii Five O last night, a tv show set in Hawaii and I marveled at how picturesque some of the places looked.

Guess what we had during my recent birthday celebration? Some sushi overload!

My relatives and friends are not here with me and I spent my birthday with my husband’s sister and her family. Just a simple get-together with lots of sushi. My husband initially thought of an eat-all-you-can night out in a Japanese restaurant but it seems that our schedules won’t jibe so we just ordered some sushi and took them to my sister in law’s house.

Sushi is a Japanese food consisting of cooked vinegared rice combined with other ingredients (and the most common of which are seafood). In North America and Europe, variations of sushi were created (such as california and other popular rolls) but in Japan, the most common types of sushi are narezushi, nigirizushi, oshizushi, chirashizushi, inarizushi and makizushi.

Sushi is one of the few foods that women are advised not to eat when they are pregnant for health reasons. This is because some large fish, such as tuna (especially bluefin), can harbor high levels of mercury. In addition, if not properly handled, it can be a cause of food poisoning and parasite infection risks. I am almost halfway through my pregnancy right now and I admit that I am quite guilty when it comes to sushi eating because I love this Japanese food a lot!

The picture above was taken at a park near our place. It’s is Georyl’s favorite play in the park. She just loves sliding down, whether it’s the spiral one (like the green one in the above picture) or just the straight one.

Someday, we’ll try to have some backyard playground equipment for Georyl but for now, a visit to the park in the afternoon or in the early morning would be nice.
