You can play something classical, but most of the time it’s more fun to play something everyone will recognize. Here are some songs you should think about learning, because it’s a guarantee that the people around you will love hearing it. These may also be good songs to play with a slash les paul – everyone will love hearing these.
- 1. Piano Man by Billy Joel. This one is probably the most obvious piano piece to learn, but you don’t have to learn all the words to all the verses – it’s a very long song. All you’ll really need to know to delight your audience are the first two or so.
- 2. Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks. If your audience isn’t big on country music, then you can skip this one, but it tends to be a good crowd-pleaser, and imitating Garth’s voice can be a lot of fun.
- 3. Copacabana by Barry Manilow. Another cheesy classic that everyone secretly loves… and you’d be surprised by how many people know most of the words and will sing right along with you!
- 4. Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. If you’re a guy trying to impress a group of girls, nothing melts a girl’s heart faster than serenading her from a piano or a guitar. This sweet romantic song is great for that.
