Red Leaf Tea recently sent me one 30-gram pack of the white matcha in exchange for an honest review here at Georyl.com. I was excited to try it because I’ve read that white tea contains the most antioxidants compared to other tea. It is also expensive because only the young tea leaves with much fine hair are supposed to be used to produce this kind of tea.
The “white tea” that I received had a dull greenish-brown color that was way darker than the one shown in the product page here Red Leaf Tea. Needless to say, when I tried making a traditional matcha tea, it looked more like a dark chocolate drink instead of pale yellow white tea. This white matcha tea has a gritty taste to it, however, it was not bitter so I drank it without any sweetener.
I definitely love the health benefits of white tea but this particular brand did not meet my expectations as to taste and quality. Nevertheless, if you let the tea powder settle at the bottom of the cup before drinking it, it is still a good and healthy drink.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
