This review of the book, “The Founder’s Key: The Divine Connection Between the Declaration and the Constitution and What We Risk by Losing It” is long overdue. I am not talking about weeks or months here but years!
The Founder’s Key is written by Dr. Larry P. Arnn, the twelfth president of Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. In the book, he talks about the important link between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution – and how rediscovering and giving importance to this connection can help restore our political faith and revive our free institutions.
I probably should not be doing this review because the topic of history does not really rank well among my interests. Nevertheless, I love books and learning new things – two things that I thought were enough to do this book review a justice.
People who love history or those students studying the Constitution might find this book interesting. I, on the other hand, needed a lot of brainpower just to get through this book and was relieved to know that the second part is just a collection of foundational readings such as The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States of America, and other documents.
This book is deep but insightful – more for the scholarly type or those who appreciate history books. If you just want a casual read, this book is not for you.
I received this book free from BookSneeze, now BookLook Bloggers, in exchange for an honest review.
