Recently, I received some feedback that GEORYL’s page load time is becoming slow. Checking out one of the tools discussed in the post Four Links Bloggers Must Check Out, I saw that indeed, GEORYL’s page load time had significantly increased. From an average of 2 to 4 seconds, it had gone up to 9 to 12 seconds!
Friends, I really apologize for such a delay. Time is gold and making you wait for this site to load is really not in my agenda. In an effort to tweak and design my site, it slipped my mind that page load speed is still an important consideration when it comes to web designing. Even Google thinks so because they are also including page load time in determining a site’s page rank.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Reverted to Georgia font instead of a font from the Google Font Directory (KB removed: 81.4; page load time difference: – 1.1 seconds)
- Removed Facebook and Twitter widgets on homepage (Speed gained:-1 second)
I’ll still be removing other stuff on my site in the next few days. Again, sorry for having GEORYL slow you down.
Happy blogging everyone!
