After nine months of waiting, GEORYL finally was given a page rank by Mr. G. Yipee!!!
It was just page rank 1 but, for me, it’s already a great feat. I had produced two page rank 3 blogs before (each took less than 3 months to earn the rank) so it really puzzled me that GEORYL can’t even get off the PR0 ranking despite all the efforts I put into it.
Considering that I did almost the same strategies (and even more) for this blog, I concluded that the reason for having no page rank must be due to the fact that this is a self-hosted WordPress blog… or I got a penalty.
WordPress vs Blogger
Subdomains of blogspot generally earn page rank more easily than self-hosted WordPress domains. Since Blogger is owned by Google, whatever SEO strategy, file structure and other factors that are used by Google as the basis for page ranking are naturally implemented at Blogger (dot blogspot dot com sites).
Blogger’s Advantage Over WordPress
The fact that subdomains have their own page ranks doesn’t mean that the other subdomain links don’t count. The .blogspot.com name provides the blogs in Blogger a common denominator – creating a network that makes it easier for search engine spiders to crawl and discover as compared to domain names that have random links only here and there.
Among the differences between Blogger and WordPress blogs stated above, the only one that I could control or change were GEORYL’s WordPress files (I can’t be under Google/Blogger and although I have a plan as to link generation, it’s really up to other web masters whether they’ll link to me or not).
I did a thorough research on the matter and had some surprising discoveries that caused me to do some drastic changes to GEORYL.
