Toilet Paper or Water Dipper?

toilet paper, water dipper

Ok, some toilet talks. Are you a toilet paper or a water dipper type of person? Yeah, I’m serious. I’m asking you which one do you use after you relieve yourself in the comfort room.

I was born and raised in the Philippines and in our culture, a water dipper is an essential tool in the comfort room or toilet. In recent years, affluent people already installed bidets in their CR’s but still, the pail and dipper is the tag team to beat because they’re still widely used nationwide.

In other countries, especially in the west, dippers in the CR are uncommon. A toilet paper, whether 2-ply, 3-ply or 4-ply, is always present to clean yourself right after the “deed”.

Is it just a culture thing? Maybe. One thing is for sure though, I may reach all the continents in the world but the dipper (or a bidet) will always be my partner in the comfort room. Washing makes me feel cleaner and refreshed. Toilet papers? Oh, I use them just to wipe myself dry after washing. Wink!

Now, what’s my question again? Oh yes, I remember. Toilet paper or water dipper?

We use water dipper in the house sis. Like you said, it would just feel cleaner with soap and water. Economical, too! hehehe

and earth friendly. just imagine all those trees that need to be cut down just to make that roll of toilet paper. :)

I’m all for the water dipper. I once was forced to only use toilet paper when my tummy acted up while I was out and there was no water dipper available. I felt so icky, I couldn’t wait to go home and wash.

Just thinking about other people who only use toilet paper even at home after the #2 is simply grossing me out. Eeekkkk!! *LOL*

It has to be both. Tissue first, and then the bidet :)

then tissue again? :D

Just like you, I use both. I only use the tissue to make myself dry. I think it’s a culture thing though. Westerners will never get use to the bucket and the dipper not until they have immersed or have acclimatized to our own environment and culture.

You’re right. One of things that my hubby can’t understand about me is that I just can’t do it if I know there’s no soap and water available. He’s a former pinoy too but I guess he’s been too “immersed” in the western culture that he’s comfortable with it already. Or maybe, maarte lang talaga ako. Hehehe!

In the US. my husband and I use toilet wipes (it’s like wet wipes for babies but only a little bit more saturated with water). Here in the Phils., I use both bidet and toilet wipes….bidet first , and then toilet wipes

I think we Filipinos are trained to use the water dipper and it will continue for many generations as it will be handed down from us to our children and to our children’s children..

I prefer using the water dipper since it’s more sanitary for me and I need not worry about bits of tissue being accidently left in my privates
