If you find expressions of love as “corny”,
please move on to the next post. Wink!
I’ve been browsing through my friendster group’s discussion thread when I saw my answer to the following question, “what are your five definitions of a real man?” I don’t have anyone in mind at that time when I came up with the following answer:
A real man is….
- strong enough to admit his mistakes and shortcomings.
- brave enough to fight for what he thinks is right.
- secure with himself, thus, he doesn’t need to bloat his ego.
- not afraid to show his sensitive and gentle side.
- always in-charge (dependable) and yet knows when to let a woman take charge.
When asked as to the concept of my ideal man, this was my long reply:
“Right now, it’s important that we’re compatible. I also look into the person’s outlook in life, his spiritual maturity, and how he relates to people. The kind of relationship he has with his family, especially to his mother and sisters (if any), is important too. I have this notion that the way a man treats his female family members is an indication of how he’s going to treat his wife in the future.
I believe that development of one’s personality is a continuous process so I want somebody who thinks that way too because I don’t need an insecure guy who would feel jealous of my achievements and curtail my growth as a person.
He doesn’t have to be super rich but it would be a plus factor if he’s already financially stable.
As for the physical aspect, I just one have criteria. It may sound like a joke but I really am serious on this one: if ever our children in the future will look exactly like him, they will be happy with how they look and won’t blame me for choosing someone better looking. LOL!
And finally, I love him.”
A few months after posting that, I finally met a person who had the qualities of my ideal man. And guess what, he possessed a lot of great qualities that I haven’t considered before like a great sense of humor, caring, kindness, thoughtfulness, intelligence, confidence, honesty and easy-going nature.
LOL, I could go on and on because words can never be enough to describe my husband now. I always discover a lot of great things about him each day.
How about you, what’s your concept of your ideal man or woman? Have you met him or her yet? Care to share?
